In contrast to sealed-cell structures, Open-Cell Technical Foam is engineered with an interconnected network of pores that allow air, gas, and liquids to pass through the material. This “reticulated” or skeletal structure is what gives open-cell foam its signature soft feel, exceptional breathability, and superior sound-absorption capabilities.

Not necessarily. While open-cell foam is softer and more flexible, our “technical grade” versions are engineered with high-density polymers that resist tearing and “bottoming out.” Its durability depends on the specific density and the application it is designed for.

Standard open-cell foam can act like a sponge and hold water. However, we offer “Reticulated Outdoor Foam” which has very large pores. This allows water to drain through almost instantly, making it a popular choice for high-end outdoor patio furniture and marine seating.
